Going with the concept of friendship, I decided to do a collage of some of my best friends. The pictures are actually some of my favorites, because when they were taken I was having a really great time with my friends. I decided to use pastel colors to keep the picture light, and I used ovals as a way to unify my work.

Original Character: Bobby

For this project we had to make our own original character. After thinking for a while, I finally just started to draw and made this character, which I named Bobby. He's somewhat based off of a squid and a turnip, and he has slimy skin. I made him cute because why not, and I'm absolutely in love with him.

We had to base our work off of an inanimate object for this project. I based mine off of an eraser, so I used neon like colors. The shape of is was inspired by the game Monument Valley, which uses this type of illusion-like style for it's levels.

Favorite Artist: Hsiao-Ron Cheng

My favorite artist is Hsiao-Ron Cheng. She was born in 1986 and is a Taiwanese digital artist/illustrator. She started as a freelance illustrator in 2012, and in that same year her work was shortlisted for the Young Illustrator Award. She has created art for well known fashion brands and design agencies worldwide.

What is art to me?

Art is a way for me to visualize my feelings. Rather than thinking about the things that disturb me all the time, writing and drawing is a way for me to let it out, and I like to be able to look back at them and think about what I was feeling at the time. Looking at other people's art inspires me, and makes me feel like I can do better than already am, and knowing that people are always working to get better makes me want to continue to try. So, art, for me, is just what I use when I want to be better, whether its emotion-wise or creativity-wise.

I had done something like this before, so I wasn't that hard for me to do this one. I basically made this to represent a joke a lot of people have about him. This looks kind of messy, but I'm unsure of how to fix it.
